Tumblr

I haven't quite been able to bring myself to come back here since I've gotten my tumblr.

There is a lot of work I have done since august and I'll be honest, I'm lazy.

So, have a few images!

Also, please take a look at my other web presences!

Oopse...

I'm so sorry! I neglected you, oh my precious blog. Tumblr is just...so much..easier. /shot.

Anyway, I haven't been inactive, just been active elsewhere.

Here. Have Images.

More Disney Hair things. Im currently working Cinderella, hopefully to get her done tonight.

I got into some traditional work after a commission. Here are two that are still for sale! Email if you're intereessteeed (ringaroundcapozzi@hotmail.com)

This was the commission before it was finished.
My Illustration blog with my friends has finally picked up. The image above was "Illustrate your favorite summer time food"  The one below was to use a color scheme and my name at the end was a typography assignment, and the cheeta was to use animal print in your illustration. I went for a concept art route for that.

These are two images that I did for the heck of it. The first one was from the gab collab on Tumblr. The second one was a response to a friend's loss.

Further Experiment...

I'm just messing around with the awesomeness that is my tablet. Being able to twist the drawing around and move the screen to fit my needs really rocks. More to come.

Cintiq

So, My graduation present was a 24inch HD Wacom Cintiq. I've been trying to get used to it because you have to draw more normally and less with a flick of your wrist. It's so nice! I'm incredibly satisfied and cannot wait until I hone in on a style that I can do easily and with consistency.

Here are some images I have been doing over the past two weeks or so to practice. I realize I'm trying too hard in some and now I'm just sort of putzing around trying to find what I want to do.

The first sketches are of Disney Characters that don't get much love. I'm going to continue this series and hopefully get better as I keep practicing and trying new techniques out.  Kida from Atlantis, Esmeralda from Hunch Back, Jane from Tarzan, and Megara from Hercules.

These are original characters. The  two images are of Daerua and Errandis. I wanted to do some stylistic things, I think they turned out alright.

This image is purely practice. I pulled an image with strong color and used it as a sort of faux-pallet. I also wanted to work in the lines I tend to be drawn to. I'm working on another piece but it's not turning out as nice.
Th-that's all folks~ Until next time (hopefully next week)!

Wrapped up

So, I realized I've neglected you, oh pretty blog, for more of an instant gratification through tumblr. I do feel bad, so here I am...gonna post some of my last images from school. I'm now a proud graduate from Califorina State University Northridge and I am soaking up some free time. I haven't done any good finished drawings since being out,  but that's okay. So, here we go!

This was the 8th assignment we were given in my Illustration class. We had to find a product and create a one page Ad for it. I naturally chose hair products and Photoshopped some bottles in. I think this was one of my most successful for all time. I really enjoyed doing it and everyone responded to it very well.

Here is the 9th assignment we had to do some portraits. I chose to do my parents. I drew the images in pen and ink, digitally colored them, had them printed out, and lastly sewed stitches on to the lines. It was a mixed media assignment. Now that I see it, I wish I had really embraced the multi-media aspect but when you've only got a week and a half to do something at the end of the semester, your time is thin and ideas come when you're half way through.

My final illustration for this class was another really successful one. We had to do another editorial and we were given free reign. This piece could also work for a poster. It was based off an article about fostering your creativity and I came up with the images using the "Matrix Method" where you can lay random stuff out and pick things you may not have normally thought to put together.

In my Digital Illustration class all we worked on was our final for Robin Hood. I decided to scrap the traditional story and go with something more interesting where Maid Marion is also Robin Hood and wears a reddish orange cap like the red breasted robin's of Europe. Her love interest is Lil John. I even went cartoony with this one! What was hardest about this was stripping my logical mind and letting design take over. I didn't get it completely but it surely pushed me to think about things differently!

Final Scene

In my Maya class I finished up my 3D Midterm and we did a final project of lighting, modelling, and texturing a room. We didn't have a lot of time and I don't have them on this computer! Next post! Thanks for looking and for supporting me!

Spring Break

So, spring break is over and it breaks my heart cause I don't wanna go to school! I want to keep lazing about and staying up until crazy hours of the morning with little consequeeence! Anyway, I was somewhat productive this week. Here's what I have to show for it!

Concept Art....Robin Hood! I've got two of three characters, Marion and Robin...and then I'll do Little John...by Wed. Heh.

Theeeen I did a decorative assignment for my Illustration 3 class. I based it heavily off Klimt's work...I don't know how I feel about it but I do like it. I learned a lot and may do more in the future. Who knows? Hope it doesn't kill your eyes on your monitor. Heeeh.

Lastly, I was screwing around with my new favorite chalk brush and a new way of painting faces. Starting with the eyes first and flipping the canvas. I have known about this way of drawing before but never implemented it. Maybe I just didn't fully understand it until now?

Anywho, that's that. See you later, *begrudgingly goes to bed*

Is it Spring Break yeeeet?

I feel like this has been the longest two weeks of my life! It hasn't, but...I want a break! It's the week after next, so I still have to wait!

Anyway, I've been up to a whole lotta stuff, finishing my animation and doing paper craft(something I may never, ever do again) So, enough with the talking. Here is some art (if you wanna call it that).

PAPERCRAFT FROM HELL. Here is Derpina the Fairy

I used two different patterns, hand painted it, glued it, yelled at it, nearly broke it several times, glued it the wrong way a few times, and almost forgot the arms. DERP. It's like, 5-6 inches tall. I can't say I'll be doing one of these again....ever.

Jekyll and Hyde hasn't been completely put on the back burner, I did fix up the sketch in the last post and worked on a lighting study for another scene. I'll be finishing up what I'm showing you now tonight and tomorrow.

I'll be fixing up the girl in the shadows, putting in a crack to let you know he's leaning against a fridge, fix up his hand, and adjust his reflection and expression.

This lighting study was going to be the preliminary drawing for another scene (if I ever get to it) of the detective/lawyer finding out that Jekyll knows Hyde.
aaaaaaaaand now some sketches.

*sigh* Midterm

And, here it is. Week 8. I can't believe how fast it's going! I so far haven't died and I've kept up on all my school work! Hopefully spring break will be nice and relaxing so I can kick the second half of the semester's ass!

So, here are a few things I've been working on. If you guys have noticed, I updated my pages, now giving an illustration portfolio page (unfinished heh...) and I'll be putting up a concept art portfolio page here real soon. I was looking through my progress steps on some of my work from last semester and realized I hated doing all the work but they came out great in the end.

Enough blabbering. Here!

Book cover illustration for Stardust. It wraps around the book so the face would be the cover, hair the back cover.

Here is a tee-shirt design I came up with. So far I'm pretty happy with it and could see a series coming of it.

And yes, those are the Threadless Tee shirt templates. They're all so dorky. Done with pen and ink, then scanned into Photoshop and tweaked! I think neither of them goes over 2 or 3 colors.

Now, a small update on my Jekyll and Hyde concept. I did a few more sketches to further experss some vulgarity in Hyde. My class had said, and I agree, that he was much too tame and didn't nearly read dangerous enough. So, here are some quick sketches and the composition I'm working on for a critical scene. I kind of made one up, where the detective is coming in looking for Jekyll who is trying to hide while Hyde is showing in the reflection.

This is still a WIP but I got pretty far in the few hours I worked on it. Most of the time was spent figuring out how to use the space.

So yea, thanks for lookin' and I'll hopefully have some personal stuff to add...some...time? Maybe? I don't know.
